Director Ron Howard and his co-producer Brian Grazer "got a wonderful, awful idea," and $100 million later wound up with a visually overstuffed live-action version of Dr. Seuss' classic Christmas fable. Jim Carrey, however, is fabulous, and largely responsible for the picture's phenomenal opening weekend.
