Saw creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell take a crack at an old-fashioned ghost story, and the results are pretty creepy: ominous shadows, strange noises and glimpses of freaky things flitting through the dark. The more we learn about the haunting the less scary it is, but that’s almost always the case with this kind of movie, so kudos to Whannell and Wan for keeping the atmosphere thick with menace as long as they do.
